Dangers of Sleeping With Another Man’s Wife

Sleeping with another man’s wife knowingly or unknowingly attracts some curses or punishments.
Please read the whole of Genesis 20 to get a clear picture of this.
Abraham was in Gerar as a foreigner and he introduced his wife to people as his sister. This could be as a result of fear of the people attacking and killing him or for financial benefits.

Even if he had touched her, he would have done so unknowingly, but would have still been punished, though Abraham and his wife could have had their own punishment too, for lying.
The only reason God did not punish Abimelech and the entire nation of Gerar was because he had not touched the woman, though he had intention to anyway! But he had not.
And God…in Verse 6 responded, “Yes, I know you are innocent. That’s why I kept you from sinning against me, and why I did not let you touch her.

This man was innocent, he didn't even know that Sarah was another man's wife, he thought she was beautiful and he could have her, since she was single.
Oho! Can you see that? God did not want to punish him because of his innocence so He did not allow Abimelech touch Sarah because if he had, whether knowingly or not , then he would have been punished.
But the norm these days is that married women are even the preferred for some men, they would do anything possible to get in between the laps of a married woman.

Incredible! Do you see that- return that woman to her husband now, or you will die- it is the word of God!
That is the only solution God has proffered for this case as in Genesis 20. Remember that Abimelech was not aware Sarah was married, not much more if he had known, yet he has not even touched her, what if he had.
Now the curse of sleeping with another man’s wife goes beyond just the man alone, now it goes on even unto his family- his children and other household members.

From Genesis 20:8 to the end Abimelech returned Sarah to Abraham as God instructed, he was pardoned and Abraham prayed for him and he did not die.
Genesis 20:17, Then Abraham prayed to God, and God healed Abimelech, his wife and his female servants, so they could have children. For the Lord had caused all the women to be infertile because of what happened with Abraham’s wife Sarah.
So collecting the woman was already a sin, he was already being punished with his entire generation because of taking the woman, the punishment was lighter because sex has not yet been involved. But there was still punishment, punishment of infertility. Again, infertility could be in health, it could be in career and it could be in business.

So the punishment for sleeping with another man’s wife is death, it could be death in career, in business, in relationships or even physical death!

You go and meet the man- I mean the woman’s husband you are sleeping with. And ask him to pray for you- simple!
“God told Abimelech- “Now return the woman to her husband and he will pray for you, for he is a prophet. Then you will live. But if you don’t return her to him, you can be sure that you and your people will die”
