How To Prepare Stewed Beans (Video)

Bean is a healthy protein food, you can eat beans daily. Beans can be eaten along other foods like, bread, garri, rice, plantain and others. There are different ways to cook beans but in this post, we will take you through how to prepare stewed beans.

Recipe 

  • Three cups of Black eyed peas
  • Three plum tomatoes
  • 🍅 Two large onions (red onions)
  • Half cup of crayfish 
  • One seasoning cube
  • Meat (as much as you want)
  • Salt to taste 
  • Palm oil (One + Half cup)
  • One green bell pepper 
  • Two cloves of garlic 
  • Thumb sized ginger 
  • One scotch bonnet pepper (or as much as you can tolerate, )

Directions for preparing the meat

Boil the meat with half onion, two seasoning cube, one garlic and ginger 

Direction for preparing stew

Blend the green bell pepper, the tomatoes, half onion, one garlic and the scotch bonnet pepper ...fry half onion in the palm oil before frying the blended ingredients. 

Direction for preparing the beans 

After rinsing out the parboiled beans, add fresh water and half onion to the beans Cook until it is done

Extra Tip

Onion and beans are goes hand in hand, so when you make beans, be generous with onions.  In case you suffer heart burn after eating beans, you may want to reduce the amount of pepper you add to beans. I’ve heard a few friends say it helps so try that.
