Small Doctor

Temitope Adekunle a.k.a Small Doctor is a Nigerian Musical artist born in Kano on 19 October 1996 in Kaduna, Nigeria. He is an origin of Eseodo, Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State. His family lived in Kaduna but relocated to Lagos due to the crises in Kaduna while he was still a little boy.

Small Doctor is an Afro-Pop, and Fuji Pop musician under the Real Beat Entertainment, he is believe to be worth over $200,000. He charges over N1million per show.

He got his name Small Doctor from his elder brother due to his small stature and his love for "Dr Who" TV Show. Being the son of a teacher and a school owner earned him the popular nickname- "Omoiya teacher".

Small Doctor attended Aina Orosan Nursery/Primary School, Lagos and Oniyawa Secondary School, Capitol Road, Dopemu in Lagos. He finished secondary school in 2004 and proceeded to the University of Lagos for his degree course but later dropped out for reasons not disclosed, though expresses optimism to return to school in future.

Temitope had a very poor and tough family up-bring, he slept in streets of Oshodi, Mushin and Lagos Island parks for many years. He was at a time caught while stealing to feed himself. The incident left him seriously wounded because he was beaten thoroughly by mobs.

After the theft incident, Small Doctor focused on his music as a means to end the hardship. The hardship and his early life experiences influenced his music style greatly. He sings mostly in Yoruba and Pidgin English.

Small Doctor started singing as a little boy, mostly gospel songs. He sang in the bathroom and around the house but never intended becoming an artist. His mother predicted as a little boy that he would become a singer. Both the mother and his elder brother sang at the church choir.

He started his professional singing career in 2001 and composed his track "E ma Kanramo mi" in 2003.

After dropping from University of Lagos he decided to go fully into music but was unable to pay for studio sessions. He struggled and worked hard doing lots of petty jobs to be able to pay for studio sessions.

Small Doctor gained popularity in 2012 after doing a couple of mix-tapes and freestyles but rose to prominence in 2014 after dropping his first album, "Street Ambassador", the album has hits like, "Mosquito Killer", "Small Doctor", "Gbagaun", which her later remixed with Pasuma Wonder his long time mentor.

The second album. "Omoiya teacher" was also a musical hit which solidifies his spot as the king of Fuji Pop genre.

His mega hit "Penalty" made him a household name allover Nigeria in 2016, followed by "This Year" in 2017.

Small Doctor has worked with great Nigerian artistes like Pasuma Wonder, Reminisce, YCee, WizKid, Don Jazzy, Davido, Olamide, Phyno, Dre San, Terry G, Oritse Femi, Seriki, Side One, and lots of others.
