Abuja Chef Orchestrates Abduction of Employer's Son

A chef in Abuja has orchestrated the kidnapping of his employer's son.

Police have apprehended 29-year-old Ulagu Philemon Chukwuma for the abduction of 12-year-old Justin Nwakwo on February 10, 2024, in Jabi, Abuja. Philemon, employed as a domestic worker and serving as a chef for the Nwakwo family, was detained by officers from the Utako Police Divisional Headquarters as part of their efforts to rescue the abducted boy and apprehend those responsible.

According to a statement from the FCT Command, police investigations have uncovered that the main suspect, who has admitted to the offense, colluded with an individual named McDonald Arinze, who is currently evading capture, to carry out the crime.

“The suspects had earlier forcefully obtained a cash sum of three million, nine hundred thousand naira (3,900,000) as ransom from the victim’s father.

“The arm of the law, however, caught up with the criminals following intensified efforts by the police.

“The boy was rescued unhurt and reunited with his parents. The cash sum earlier extorted was equally recovered.

The Command highlighted that ongoing efforts are being made to apprehend the fugitive suspects. In the meantime, the Commissioner of Police, FCT, CP Benneth Igwe, has reaffirmed his unwavering dedication to guaranteeing the safety of all individuals within the Territory.

He also urged residents to engage the police in vetting their domestic workers, recognizing the emerging trend and tactics of kidnappings involving domestic staff.
