Kidnappers Allegedly Abduct Two Teenage Sisters at Their Residence in Kubwa, Abuja

Category: Crime

Gunmen believed to be bandits have reportedly abducted two teenage sisters in Guita community, Chikakore, located in Kubwa, Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

This incident occurs just under a week following a demonstration by the Chikakore community at the office of FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike. The protest was against the deplorable condition of the main road connecting their community, which they attributed to being one of the factors contributing to frequent kidnappings in the area.

SaharaReporters reported on Wednesday that the abductors came back last Sunday at approximately 11:25 pm.

According to information gathered, a group of six gunmen took the girls, aged 16 and 14, through the forests and hills in the region.

A local police source, confirming the abduction to SaharaReporters on Wednesday, mentioned that the assailants abducted three children from a man, consisting of two girls and one boy. However, they only retained the two girls and released one (the boy) back from the bush.

He was dispatched to inform their father to arrange N30 million as the ransom.

According to the source, "The gunmen altered their tactics this time. Instead of shooting upon arrival, they forcefully entered the premises. As they entered, the homeowner, a Calabar man, quickly sought help from the vigilante office. He then proceeded to the commander's residence. However, by the time the commander could mobilize assistance and reach the house, the gunmen had already departed.

"It was during their departure that they began shooting, a deviation from their previous pattern of shooting before and throughout the operation. They abducted three of the man's children—two girls and one boy. However, they took away two girls and released one (the boy) from the bush, instructing him to convey the message to their father about preparing a ransom of 30 million naira."

"When they were abducted, the two girls, aged 16 and 14, one of them was in a nightgown. The mother attempted to plead with the gunmen to allow her daughter to put on something for the cold, but they responded by assaulting her. With no alternative, she had to let the girls go as they were, despite the cold.

"By the time the police arrived at the scene, the abductors had already left. Some members of the vigilante group later tracked them to the railway line and the rocks, but there was no longer any trace.

"The father of the kidnapped girls is a prominent figure in security matters and has made numerous contributions to the community."

However, when SaharaReporters reached out to Josephine Adeh, the FCT police spokesperson, she assured that she would gather the details and provide a response.
