Labour Party Demands Justice For Murdered Benue Ward Chair

The Chairman of the Labor Party in Edikwun ward, Apa Local Government Area of Benue State, Nathaniel Ochoche, has been killed by suspected herdsmen.

The spokesman for the Labor Party in Benue State, Kengkeng Ati, disclosed this to our correspondent in a telephone conversation on Tuesday.

Ati said the LP chieftain was killed by suspected armed herdsmen in Ankpali village, Edikwu district of the LG.

He said the incident happened at the weekend, adding that the case had been reported at the police station in the local government area.

“It is true; it happened in his village where herdsmen laid ambush by the roadside and killed him.

The PPRO, in a statement, gave the suspect’s name as Ephraim Ternenge, adding that he was found “along the Taraba-Benue border wandering in a suspicious manner.”

“During investigation, the suspect confessed to have gone to the forest to liaise with criminal herders to pay him so that he could facilitate an attack on a village in Anyiin,” Anene said.

Anene added that investigation was ongoing to reveal more information about the suspect’s involvement in recent attack and possible arrest of other suspects involved in carrying out such heinous crimes.
