I’m Never Gonna Have Respect For You - Ronaldo To Ten Hag

Category: Sports News

Manchester United striker, Cristiano Ronaldo has said that he has no respect for manager, Erik ten Hag.

Ten Hag became Manchester United manager last summer, taking over from interim boss Ralf Rangnick, who now coaches the Australian national team.

Ronaldo, who was said to have asked to be allowed to leave the club over the summer, was prevented from going by the club and Ten Hag made it clear that the 37-year-old was part of his plan for the season.

But match after match, the Portugal international was being kept on the bench until a couple of weeks ago during the game against Tottenham, when he defied the manager and disrespected his teammates by storming out of the bench and leaving the stadium while the match was still on.

He was punished with a one match-ban and later called back to the team. The Portuguese had started and completed United’s last four matches until the Carabao Cup game against Aston Villa.

Ten Hag had explained that Ronaldo was ill and could not play in the 4-2 win over Aston Villa and weekend’s 2-1 win over Fulham.

But it seems the Portugal captain may have burnt his bridges at Manchester United once and for all.

The former Real Madrid and Juventus superstar gave an explosive interview in which he hit out at the club, claiming he would ‘never respect’ Ten Hag.

Asked about Ten Hag, Ronaldo told Piers Morgan Uncensored on Sunday night: “I don’t have respect for him because he doesn’t show respect for me.

“If you don’t have respect for me, I’m never gonna have respect for you.”

Asked if he felt Ten Hag had tried to force him out, he replied: “Yes, not only the coach but another two or three guys that are around the club [at senior executive level]. I felt betrayed.”

Probed on whether he feels they are actively trying to get rid of him, he continued: “Honestly, I shouldn’t say that, I don’t know, but I don’t care, always people should listen to the truth. Yes, I feel betrayed.

“And I felt that some people don’t want me here. Not only this year but last year too.”

The 37-year-old further explained that his three-month-old daughter was hospitalized in July, which was why he missed Manchester United’s tour of Asia during the pre-season.
