How My 10-Year-Old Son Was Almost Killed At A Neighbor’s Child Birthday Party!

Category: Confessions & Testimonies

This happened on April 21, 2011, over a year ago now in Surulere, Lagos state.

A family friend’s son was celebrating his tenth year birthday. As usual my kids attend their birthday parties just like their kids attend my kid’s.

It was a Saturday and I was busy doing some house chores and so when Olaolu came to seek permission for them to attend the birthday party I was glad for them to go, at least that will enable me to finish the works before they came back.

After some hours I went with my husband to pick the boys from our family friend’s residence in an estate beside ours. As we approached the building, my older son Olaolu rushed and opened the car’s door, crying

“Mummy it’s Teni, its Teni oh”.

The first thing that came to my mind was that Teni had been kidnapped. I rushed to the house and what I was told surprising.

My younger son, Teni slept on a double bunk bed that was so close to the ceiling and while the others chanted and play he stayed there watching them. Teni is usually very quiet and reserved unlike his elder brother who was more of an extrovert.

“So this is what Mr. Ayafa said is not serious?” I asked my husband when we got to the hospital where my younger son had been admitted. Mr. Ayafa had earlier told us that it was just minor and nothing serious.

Let me describe what happened to the boy here, when he tried to get up from the double bunk where he laid, the ceiling fan cut him by the side of his head and he lost a lot of blood. Doctor said this could have led to total blindness or severe brain damage of the little boy if not for God’s intervention.

Fortunately they were on vacation during this period. X-ray was done on him and a CT scan but he was okay in both tests. Teni was alright before resumption the next month.

But on the day he resumed back to school he pass out but was revived at the school’s sick bay, we were informed that he fainted because of stress as a result of the deep cut on his head.

I want to thank God for His intervention, how He used the nurses at the sick bay to revive my boy, maybe he would have been dead by now, I thank God.

It was a very stressful period for me especially because of the nature of my work which requires me to be off home almost 12 hours of the day.
