Gunmen believe to be Nigerian soldiers allegedly attacked the residence of Sunday Adeyemo, aka Sunday Igboho less than 72 hours before the planned Yoruba Nation mega rally in Lagos State.

According to various sources, the attack occurred on Thursday midnight when the assailants stormed the area.

According to the media aide, some persons were whisked away by the gunmen during the attack.

Two persons were reportedly killed during the early morning attack on the residence of Yoruba rights activist, Sunday Adeyemo, better known as Sunday Igboho, in his Soka residence at Ibadan, Oyo State, his spokesman, Olayomi Koiki, has said.

“The situation now is very bad. Two Yoruba sons have been killed in the house of Chief Sunday Igboho. The two dead bodies have been taken away by the military. We do not know of the location where they were taken to,” the aide said in a Facebook Live.

The invasion of the residence was said to have been carried out around 1am on Thursday.

Igboho's media aide said, “I can confirm that those who came are definitely Nigerian soldiers. There are more than 100 soldiers that came”.

He added that, “The situation is very active as more security operatives in about seven Nigerian Army patrol vans have arrived.”

He also said that Sunday Igboho is safe.

According to a Punch Newspaper correspondent cars and walls of the house were riddled with bullets during the invasion.

Recall that on January 26, 2021, some faceless hoodlums reportedly attacked the Soka residence of Igboho also in Ibadan and gutted the house.
