An eye-witness told our correspondent that the deceased, popularly known as Murphy was at his shop opposite Road A, after the popular Idafa river, with his workers when the gunmen invaded the shop.

He was said to have fled on sighting the invaders, which made many to believe he belonged to a cult group, that is plus the fact that he was only one attacked.

The deceased was said to have been shot at as he tried to run from his attackers. He was chased into Road A, where his attackers, were said to have shot him him in his neck and head and he died on the spot.

As news about the attack spread through the community, people were visibly seen scampering for their lives, and shops were closed as residents fled to their homes, locking up their homes as early as six in the evening.

Our correspondent spoke to a member of the local security operatives of the community, who chose to be anonymous, he said;

The man that was killed is the owner of the Aluminum fitting shop off Road A, at Idafa before the river.

According to him, the deceased is believe to be a member of the Eiye Confraternity who had earlier renounced his membership. He also said most people did not know he was a member of a cult until the sad incident.

Another witness who owns a building material business along the road told us the invaders came into Idafa after seizing bikes from the owners to use in carrying out the crime.

He said;

"We heard they first stopped at Itele Filling Station, the community before Idafa to ask how they will get to Idafa, we are told they stopped there at Itele for about thirty minutes to take "ogogoro", local gin, after which they seized bikes from okada riders to use in perpetrating their evil act"

"They were six of them. They first stopped at Road A, you will know that they have never been here. They soon located his shop which is just opposite the Road A, but as soon as he sighted them, he took to heels, but they chased after him and killed him along the bush path"

Another resident, a woman, said she had gone to his shop to give him a job to for her when the incident occurred.

According to our sources, the deceased has been buried by his family since yesterday night.Many of the residents are still expecting the police to visit but as at the time of filing in this report, there is still no police presence in the community.

Last three months, exactly on September 16, a group of cultists also invaded the community in riot riffles, killing three innocent citizens. At that particular incidence the three people killed did not belong to any cult group and they were quietly buried in the same manner.

Idafa is a growing community in Maya area of Lagos. There are lots of new settlers as the area is yet to be overpopulated like most areas in Lagos, however, the road network is very poor and there is hardly any government presence in the entire community.
