Nursing mother crushed to death at Ughelli

It was mourning and gnashing of teeth at the Kogbodi roundabout along Isoko Road, Ughelli, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, yesterday, following the death of a nursing mother in her 30s who was crushed to death by a speeding SUV.

The victim, it was gathered, had a female baby strapped to her back and was pushing a cart filled with detergent and other groceries on display for sale when the vehicle rammed into her from behind, slamming her into the barricade of the roundabout.

As at 12:30pm when Vanguard visited the scene of the accident, sympathizers were seen carrying the mangled remains of the victim away from the accident spot, while her baby who sustained minor injuries, was receiving attention by the side of the road from sympathizers.

“The victim was pushing a cart towards the roundabout from the Post Office road axis when the vehicle coming from the same side, in what seems like break failure, rammed into her,’’ the witness said.
