The Ondo State House of Assembly has served a notice of impeachment on the state’s Deputy Governor, Ali Olanusi, over allegations of gross misconduct.

The Deputy Governor had defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) two days before the presidential election .

The allegations levelled against him include abuse of office for personal enrichment, absenteeism, action capable of causing breach of peace among cabinet members in the state, among others.
Majority Leader of the House, Ifedayo Akinsoyinu, moved the motion that the notice be served on the Deputy Governor and it was seconded by Adeyinka Banso.

The Speaker then ruled that the Deputy Governor be served the notice personally, through his office, pasted on his residence and through a national daily which got a unanimous approval from all the lawmakers present.

The Chairman, House Committee on Information, Kunle Olujuigbe, promised that the Assembly would follow due process.
