Boko Haram Kills Pastor, Teacher, 18 Others in Borno

Gunmen believed to be members of the Boko Haram Islamic sect reportedly attacked Shaffa and Shindiffu villages of Hawul Local Government Area of Borno killing a pastor, a teacher and eighteen others.

The gunmen also set churches and residential building ablaze in an attack which went on for hours.
The murdered pastor was identified as Eliud Mshelizza of the Living Faith Church while the teacher (name withheld) was a staff of the Government Girls Secondary School, Shaffa.

The terrorists were said to have razed down about 10 churches including the E.Y.N No.1, E.Y.N No.2 and three in Shaffa and Shindiffu villages including many houses. A clinic, staff quarters and structures at the Government Girls Secondary School in Shaffa were also destroyed.

Residents of the area told reporters that the Boko Haram militants attacked Shaffa around 8pm on Wednesday before visiting mayhem on Shindiffu on Thursday morning.

Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Gideon Jubrin, who spoke to journalists on the telephone on Thursday, confirmed the attacks on Shaffa and Shindiffu villages.

The Boko Haram insurgents have continued to cause havoc in the North-eastern part of the country killing thousands of people. The Nigerian military maintains that it is doing all it can to contain the insurgents.

Several members of the sect have reportedly surrendered to the troops while many more have been killed.
