Impeachment Saga: Nasarawa Lawmaker Escapes Mob Lynching, Father Beaten To Coma

Category: Nigerian National News

Evidently the saga in Nasarawa State over the impeachment of the State Governor, Malam Tanko Al Makura, has not seen the last drama. This is according to information available to 247ureports.com obtained through members of the legislators indicating that one of the pro-impeachment lawmakers, Hon. Muhammed Aga Muluku, PDP, representing Nasarawa Eggon East in the state assembly – narrowly escaped a mob action by a crowd of thugs believed to be pro-Al Makura and members of the All Progressive Congress [APC]. His father and his driver were not lucky to escape. They were beaten to coma.

As gathered through an eyewitness account, mob suspected to be followers of APC attacked Hon. Muluku’s father and the honorable member’s driver, Sani Aga. According to the source “the two were beaten to the state of coma along Nasarawa State VIP Guest house, and their car burnt down.” The source continued to add that “the mob were shouting ‘where is Hon. Muluku? We want to kill him”.

The source indicated that the manner the mob pounced on the vehicle [Toyota Camry with Nasarawa State House of Assembly plate number] being driven by the driver – belonging to the honorable member – indicates that the mobs acted in premeditated manner. In the words of the source, it “was an attack by the mob on sighting the Camry with NSHA plate number. It was a plot not a protest“.

The beaten is reported to have taken place at about 2pm today [Wednesday].

The whereabouts of the two victims remain uncertain.
