KOGI STATE GOVERNMENT Dissolves State Basic Education Board

PRESS RELEASE: The Kogi State Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has been dissolved.

The former Chairman, Alhaji Jibrin Usman has consequently been directed to hand over to Mr. Stephen Akwu with immediate effect.

Akwu will head a six-man Interim Management Committee pending the constitution of a substantive board.

Other members of the Interim Management Committee are Mr. Salami Musa Ojonaun, Mr. Elijah Folorunsho, Mall. Abubakar Sani, Peter Kinrin and Mr. Adavi Abraham.

A statement by Jacob Edi, Special Adviser, Media and Strategy to Governor Idris Wada, said Interim Management Committee is to work with the Management of SUBEB to pay salaries of genuine and certified teachers and also of the non- Teaching staff as approved by His Excellency, as quick as possible.

"However, in the main time, the job of the Interim Management Committee is to, amongst others, effect a clean up all the administrative and technical anomalies in SUBEB with a view to repositioning the Board for effective and efficient Management of Education at the Basic level in the state," the statement added.

Governor Idris Wada, expressed appreciation to Alhaji Jibrin, the former chairman for his services while he served.
