Police Torture Update: Treat And Compensate The Victims - Women Group Tells Police

Women under the aegis of Women Arise have threatened a mass protest against the Nigerian police if their demands concerning the two women who were recently tortured by a police officer in Lagos are not met. Though the officer has been identified and going through interrogation, the women group says, they won’t allow the police to treat this like a family affair.

Firstly, they want one of the women who sustained internal bleeding from the torture treated by the police and adequately compensated. Secondly, they want the officer who brutalized them to be dismissed and punished accordingly.

The group threatened that if all their demands are not met, they will not hesitate to storm the streets and protest against the police force because there must be an end to police officers abusing and intimidating helpless Nigerians.
