Many Feared Dead As Gunmen Unleash Terror In Katsina

No fewer than 103 people have been killed in a recent attack by unknown gunmen suspected to be cattle rearers some villages in Katsina State.

The armed men, about 100 in number on Tuesday and Wednesday evening invaded Kurar Mota, Marabar Maigora, Sabon Layin Galadima, Unguwar Doka, and Maigora, all in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State.Koran Mota village in broad daylight on motorcycles, shooting sporadically into the air and killing anyone in sight.

According to an eyewitness, witness who narrowly escaped, he attended the burial of 27 people in his hometown, Maigora, and the burial of another 21 people at Sabon Layin Galadima, adding that 40 people were killed at Marabar Maigora; 7 in Kurar Mota and 8 in Unguwar Doka.

Many of the victims which include women and children are believed to have been set ablaze inside their houses.

The eyewitness who pleaded anonymity said the attack is believed to be reprisal mission by the cattle rustlers
who have in recent times been arrested and handed over to the police.

Efforts to get in touch with the spokesperson of the Katsina police, Aminu Abubakar has proved abortive, although the BBC Hausa Service quotes a federal lawmaker from the area, Abbas Machika, as saying 67 people were killed in the attack.
