Adelabu confirmed as Deputy Governor of CBN

The Senate on Thursday confirmed Mr Adelabu Adekola for appointment as Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

The confirmation followed the consideration of the report of the Sen. Bassey Otu (PDP-Cross River)-led Committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions on the screening of Adelabu.

Presenting the report, Otu said the committee had screened Adelabu on Wednesday and having answered questions satisfactorily, the committee found him capable of handling the position. The Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, who presided over Thursday’s plenary, congratulated Adelabu and expressed the hope that he would bring fresh ideas into the CBN.
