Kano State to Start Producing 50 Trucks of Fertilizer Per Day



The governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and his counterpart from Jigawa State, Alhaji Badaru Abubakar with the Minister of State for Agriculture,  Heineken Lokpobiri commissioned AF & C Nagari Fertilizer Blending Company, a multi million fertilizer mega factory in Madobi Local Government in the outskirts of Kano State with a capacity to produce 50 trucks per day.
Governor Ganduje said that the establishment of this mega factory is timely considering the efforts of the federal government under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari to boost agriculture in the country. He emphasized the need to increase value addition to agriculture which is key in developing the sector into a profitable one.

Ganduje also commended the owner of the fertilizer company for its establishment and commended Federal government's efforts in providing the enabling environment for companies like this to be established. He added that the Kano State own fertilizer company has been added to the list of companies that will be receiving raw materials from Morocco in order to meet the target of 1million tons of fertilizer by the end of this year's farming season.

In his remarks Governor Badaru of Jigawa State said that in the actualization of the federal government's commitment to the improvement of Agriculture in the country and one of the key factors in doing this is the provision of affordable fertilizer which is why President Muhammadu Buhari signed a landmark agreement with Morocco for the supply of the main ingredient for the production of fertilizer.




The Minister of State for Agriculture,  Mr Heineken Lokpobiri on his part, stressed that provision of adequate and qualitative fertilizer is the essential element of boosting agriculture in the country. He also commended the owner of the company for establishing it and said that The federal government is focused on making Nigeria self sufficient in food production to not only feed the nation's population but also produce in excess for export.

The event was well attended by dignitaries from across the two states and other top government officials, traditional Rulers, as well as stakeholders from the agricultural sector including the private sector.
