Why It Is Foolish To Worship Idols

Idols are carved from woods, metals, clay, etc. made by man or the user or the worshiper. How funny and foolish that is. Longman describes idol as a picture or statue that is worshiped as a god.

Worshiping something you created or carved with your own hands is not only foolish but also senseless. My thinking is that you should serve something or being that is stronger or greater than you and not the other way. What you created is what should be serving you and not you worshiping or serving what you created.

That means your idol can be the car you bought which you treat like a god or that thing you have that is taking the place of god. It could be money, beauty, jewelry, anything at all that has taken the place of God in your life is an idol.

The word of God says, “What sorrow awaits you who say to wooden idols, “Wake up and save us! Can an idol tell you what to do? They maybe overlaid with gold and silver, but they are lifeless inside” Habakkuk 2:18-19

Yes they are just ordinary wood, the same kind of wood you use as pestles or for making fire! Is that what you are worshiping? Then that is very foolish!

Worship the Almighty God; He is the only One, the Holy One that deserves to be worshiped. “But the Lord is in His Temple. Let all the earth be silent before Him” Habakkuk 2:20
