What wont people do for money this festive period? Lots of kidnap cases have been reported, people are missing every day, money-ritual is on the increase, stealing and armed robbery cases everywhere, now friends are duping each other just to have money to spend for Christmas!

A 22 year old man narrates to us how his friend duped him of N180,000

My name is Rasheed Olawale, I live in Mowe in Lagos. I am 22 years old and I work as House Aluminum- fitter.

Two weeks ago I received a call from my father to do a contract for his friend. The contract is to fit aluminum for an entire building.

The whole job would cost N430,000 and so the house-owner gave me N250,000 as an advance payment to start work with.

Because of how big the work is and also to assist a friend make some money too, I called my bosom friend, Lamidi to work with me.

On the day the house-owner gave the N250,000 to me I couldn’t take it to the bank because it was already late and also since we would be using it to buy the materials needed the next day, I thought it wasn’t really necessary.

Because of the trust I had for my friend I gave the money to him to keep. Unknown to me, Lamidi had taken N80,000 out of the money. The next day he told me that N80,000 had been removed by someone from the money.

I trusted my friend and did not think otherwise, but to my shock later that day, Lamidi came in with some members of the vigilante group (OPC) to arrest me and the third guy staying with us.

After torturing us for almost an hour, the OPC guys finally allowed me to speak. They were shocked when I told them that the missing money actually belonged to me.

When Lamidi came back, he said he didn’t tell them to torture us that he only wanted them to get the truth about the missing money.

We returned back to the house, and I didn’t feel bitter about what my friend did to me, I asked him how we would get the money to do the work and he said he would work it out.

The next day we took the remaining N170,000 to Aluminum village to buy the materials the money could afford.

After using up what we bought we couldn’t continue the work and I asked Lamidi what we are going to do, he said he would work it out.

He later came with N20,000 which he claimed to have borrowed from his brother. That was not enough to finish the work. Another time he came with some materials for us to finish the work; he again claimed to have gotten the money from someone which he has to repay when we take the balance from the house-owner.

Unknown to me, Lamidi had gone behind me to collect N100,000 from the house-owner. I wouldn’t have known this if not that my dad called to inform me that the house-owner was angry that after giving us N350,000 we didn’t finish his work and he was unwilling to give any more until the work is completed. He said Lamidi had taken money thrice from the house-owner without my knowledge and the total amount he took was N100,000.

I told my dad that I wasn’t aware that Lamidi had been taking money from the house-owner, I further explained to him how Lamidi said N80,000 was missing from the initial advance paid by the house-owner and how Lamidi used vigilante members to beat me up. I however did not tell Lamidi anything about my discovery.

Tomorrow the house-owner will be paying the balance of N80,000. I have informed him of how Lamidi had cheated me. He will be coming to my dad’s place with the money where all of us will meet with Lamidi and I will tell him my mind there. Some witnesses will be there too.

My plan is to take the whole balance of N80,000 and I won’t give a dime to Lamidi from it. I know he thinks I am going to share the N80,000 with him, but he is making a big mistake because no dime will go to him.

This is a guy that I have done so much for, sometimes I go hungry just to help him with money, but see how he pays me back!

If you are the one that this happened to what will you do?
