Lord of Ajasa



Olusegun Osaniyi a.k.a Lord of Ajasa is a native of Akure, Ondo State of Nigeria. He got his nickname Ajasa (Flavor) while in the Federal Polytechnic Ado- Ekiti, in Ekiti State.

He was named Ajasa by his friends and fans while he rapped in school because of his ability to rap in Yoruba dialect.

Ajasa is the first Nigerian artiste to rap using Yoruba dialect.

Though he graduated from Ado Polytechnic where he studied Quantity Survey, Ajasa did not go for his nation service.

He left Akure for Lagos in 2000 to pursue of his music career where he met DJ Femi, a London based DJ in Lagos who helped him to develop his earlier music career.

His first single track was “No Turning Back”, he later did his popular track, “Fe nu so” with 9ice



Ajasa told journalists during an interview that Awards for him is secondary, he said his songs are life-changing songs meant to inspire youths and enlighten the general public about “Electricity, Health, Poverty. I don’t sing love songs” he said, “I appreciate when I am nominated for awards but that is not why I sing”

Ajasa who has fans from across Nigeria, particularly Lagos, said people listened to his songs and appreciate what he stands for.

He said it is important for artistes to know how to play all musical instruments.

His songs

In 2000, Ajasa did “Ma yi lo” and in 2005 he dropped ‘Otiya’ which brought into fame in the industry. He later released his debut album titled ‘It’s Too Much’ under Platinum Records in 2005.

In 2007 Lord of Ajasa released three tracks namely ‘Oro Awe’ produced by ID Cabasa , ‘Esa Lo Ba De’ was with a smashing video directed by Ayo Banjo and d.o.p Clarence Peters of Capital, and ‘See Drama’.

His sophomore album titled ‘Second turning By the Right’ was released May 2008 which had hits like "Le fenu so" featuring 9ice, produced by the ID Cabasa.

Awards

In 2001 he won the Best Rap Indigenous Category of the Afro Hip Hop Society Awards; he was nominated in the category Lyricist on the Roll in Hip Hop World Awards in 2006.
