Photographers Ignore Buhari, Focus on GEJ During Council of State Meeting, OBJ, IBB Absent

President Muhammadu Buhari on September 7, Wednesday, presided over the National Council of State meeting in the presidential villa in Abuja. The meeting is the second presided over by President Buhari since he became the nation's president.

President Buhari is expected to brief the council on the nomination of Ibrahim Idris as acting Inspector-General of Police and the Nigerian Police Council (NPC) is expected to ratify the appointment thereafter.

Past Head of States present at the meeting are, immediate past president, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, Chief Ernest Shonekan, Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar, while Olusegun Obasanjo and Ibrahim Babangida are absent at the meeting. Also absent are, General Yakubu Gowon and Shehu Shagari. Among the attenders are also five past Chief Justices of the Federation, State governors and some of their deputies.

Senate president, Bukola Saraki and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara didn’t attend the meeting.

According to Daily Trust, a mild drama occurred at the meeting when photographers and cameramen ‘abandoned’ President Buhari for his predecessor, Goodluck Jonathan.
