Gov Ganduje Swears in New SSG, Six Perm Secs

Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state has said that the recent appointment and deployments of top government functionaries is to fine tune the machinery of his administration towards efficient and effective service delivery.

“It has become imperative to bring on board the right caliber of individuals, with credible records and experience in order to help in moving State affairs to greater heights”, the governor added.


The governor made the remark shortly after swearing in the new Secretary to the State government, Alhaji Usman Alhaji. It could be recalled that the administration announced the replacement of the erstwhile Secretary to the State government, Rabi’u Sulaiman Bichi, and redeployment of some permanent secretaries in the state Civil Service.

He said the appointment of the new Secretary to the State government is justified because “he a person with high integrity, wealth of experience and an astute politician with good sense of responsibility”.


He further noted that the Permanent Secretaries are experienced civil servants whose appointments are based on merit, good track record of service and loyalty.

Governor Ganduje, thus tasked the new SSG to ensure synergy in the coordination of all projects and programmes as well as implementation of policies, while stressing the need for the permanent secretaries to improve the glory of the service and abide by its etiquette.


The governor said the state civil service has been restructured on line with international best practices, adding that various reform initiatives were introduced in order to develop its capacity and make it more result-oriented.
