Gov Ganduje Inaugurates Five Delivery Trucks and Medical Consumables For Kano Hospitals

Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state has inaugurated 5 vaccine and medical commodities delivery trucks, diagnostic kits and anti Malaria drugs worth the sum of N104 million.

The governor disclosed this during the 2016 Volunteer Community Mobilizers Convention held at the Government House in Kano, pointing out that the move is part of efforts to strengthen the governments free maternal and child care initiative.

He explained that the 5 Hilux trucks would be used to delivery vaccines and other medical consumables to health facilities while the diagnostic kits and anti Malaria drugs would also be distributed to deserving women and children free in public hospitals.

On the Volunteer Community Mobilizers, the governor noted that the success have recorded in terms of halting the spread of the wild Polio virus for close to two years is due to their selfless service.



According tot him, they have played a major role in community mobilization towards addressing the issue of non-compliance with oral Polio vaccine as well as mobilizing parents and care givers on child care programmes, stressing that they should not relent until Polio is totally eradicated in Nigeria.

Governor Ganduje to thanked development partners, especially, WHO, UNICEF, CHAI, EU-SIGN, Rotary International, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Dangote Foundation for their support to Kano in the area of health and social development.

In his speech, the state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Kabir Ibrahim Getso said the government has procured additional microscopes to be distributed to primary and secondary health facilities in the state.

Dr. Gesto also mentioned that the government is working with local and international partners to ensure availability of Malaria drugs, diagnostic kits and insecticide treated nets in all its health facilities, to end the scourge of Malaria in the state.

Highlights of the occasion include presentation of wards to the District Head of Bichi, Alhaji Idris Bayero, Rabi’u Musa Garko, Sadiya Salisu and Bilkisu Ibrahim for their outstanding contribution to the success of Polio immunization in their respective domains.
