West African Bloggers Conference, 2016
This year event of the West African Bloggers Conference (#WABC) kicked off on January 22nd at the Banquet Hall of Berkley’s Hotel, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos.
It is a two day event, with at least 200 bloggers from across Nigeria. The event focused on all the rudiments of blogging and the social media; how to monetize blog contents, marketing, affiliate and blog branding.
Speakers at the conference are from different fields; notable are; Ifeanyi Aniagoh, the current Senior Special Assistant on Social Media to Governor Willie Obiano, the Governor of Anambra State, he spoke majorly on how to leverage on social media to promote affairs of the state in a positive manner, which bloggers can relate to their daily blogging styles, rather than dwell on only negative blogging.
Another speaker at the conference was Stephen Akintayo, CEO of Gtext Media & Investment Limited.
Akintayo spoke extensively on how to monetize blog other than advertisement.
A representative of Google, Taiwo Kola-OGUNLADE, spoke on the need for original content publishing, keywords, Link backs and Adsense.
The conference was opened by Ayodele Oyebade who is also the coordinator of the West African Bloggers Conference.

Ayodele Oyebade discussed the subject he titled; “My Passion, My Business”, he discussed what a product is and why bloggers should not just be seen as content lifters, but professionals who should have a product that is marketable.
Abdulsalami from Google discussed Online Measurement. He said what to measure online should be; audience, acquisition, behavior and conversion.

Other speakers are Jackson Bassey and Bunmi Babs, both bloggers.
