Pete Edochie is a Nigerian Actor, a seasoned Administrator and Broadcaster. He was born on March 7 1947 in Enugu, Nigeria. He is an Igbo from Enugu State in Nigeria.

He attended both Primary and Secondary schools in Zaria, Kaduna state in Nigeria and later obtained a certificate in Journalism and Television in School of Journalism and Television in England.


Pete is considered one of Africa’s most talented actors by Movie Awards and Movie Magic’s Africa Magic Cable Network. He came into prominence in the 1980s when he played the lead role of Okonkwo in the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) adaptation of Chinua Achebe’s all-time best-selling novel, “Things Fall Apart”

He won an International Award with his “Things Fall Apart” role and BBC came to Nigeria to interview him on his role in “Things Fall Apart”

He started broadcasting in 1967 and was appointed a Director in the Eastern Nigeria Broadcasting Corporation in 1987, where he sometimes double as the Deputy Managing Director of the corporation and occasionally as the Managing Director before he retired in 1988 when he moved fully into Nollywood, and has since starred in over 200 movies.

Pete Edochie is married and has two children; Yul Edochie and Linc Edochie.

He speaks Igbo and English.
