Six Killed in Bloody Cultists Clash in Lagos

There was bloody shoot out at Odunfa street, off Kano street, Ebute Meta area of Lagos metropolis Monday night as suspected cultists engaged in fight which led to the death of six persons. The armed hoodlums, Daily Sun gathered were at logger head over which of the cult groups will collect tax from the various motor parks in Ebute Meta.

Witness identified as Segun said trouble started at about 9pm on Monday when armed men stormed the street and started shooting at some area boys drinking at a beer palour. “The boys were caught unaware, hence, they could not defend themselves. It’s was terrible, even the police could not help us. It was after they had gone that the police came and started arresting people up and down.”

On the possible cause of the fight, Segun explained it had to do with fight over who controls the various parks in Ebute Meta. “They took advantage of the situation and robbed everyone within the area. It was horrible, they also came in the morning and killed another person.”

A victims who claimed that he lost his laptop, phones and money said he was robbed at gun point. “I was returning from work when they attacked me. I was forced to lie down on the floor while they took my laptop and everything found with me. I thank God for my life.”

Confirming the incident, the state police command spokesman Joe Offor, said it was a case of fight among cultists that turned bloody. “They fought among themselves Monday night and one of them died. They also came back yesterday morning and another person was killed. Meanwhile five persons have been arrested and police is on the look out for the leader of one of the gangs identified as Sunday Terror who escaped through the water ways.

“Normalcy have been restored in the area and police men are on ground to counter any attempt to cause trouble.”
