The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has reduced the waiting period for applicants of drivers’ licence from 60 to 21 days to pick their produced licence and expanded the work stations to 243 across the country.

The FRSC Corps Marshal, Mr Boboye Oyeyemi, who stated this in Abuja, at the sensitisation programme on the new drivers’ license procedure in Nigeria, also noted that six designated locations have been created for the awareness drive in Abuja, Lagos, Lafia, Ibadan, Benin and Port Harcourt, with a promise for more expansion.

He said, “It is interesting to note that through this scheme and the Corps’ backed ICT infrastructure, the FRSC has improved on its capacity to enforce traffic rules and regulations as our on-line offenders’ database has encouraged the introduction of the penalty point system and the flying tickets to further regulate the activities of drivers in Nigeria”.

The FRSC boss added that the Corps has established four drivers’ licence tank farms in Suleja, Warri, Eleme, and Apapa to further inject order and control in the activities of articulated vehicle drivers.

He pledged the Corps’ commitment on the new drivers’ licence initiative and urged other corporate bodies in the public and private sector to join them in the crusade to restore the integrity of the Nigeria drivers’ licence.
Speaking on the yuletide, Oyeyemi, who was represented by Omo Kagho noted that the Corps has developed a robust road map for intensive patrols, rescue services, public enlightenment campaigns and strict enforcement of traffic rules and regulations.
