Meet Ernest Adelaye, The Governor Beaten To A Pulp On Mohammed Abacha’s Orders

Category: Nigerian National News

Ernest Olawunmi Adelaye was the former military administrator of Rivers State in the 1980s under the Ibrahim Babangida regime. A retired Group Captain from the Nigerian Air Force, he was one of those who saw hell during the regime of General Sani Abacha (read all about him HERE).

When Abacha was the military head of state of Nigeria, his powers extended throughout his family and at a point, Group Captain Adelaye crossed paths with Mohammed Abacha, the son of the head of state, a disagreement led to a misunderstanding. To cut the story short, Mohammed Abacha ordered his military guards to arrest and bundle the air force chief to Dodan Barracks in Lagos where he was so savagely beaten that his survival remains a surprise to many who witnessed the barbarity of the beating.
