Fifteen person recorded injuries when the roof of a New Jersey church collapsed during an Easter Sunday service.

Those who were worshipping in the church said they heard a cracking sound from above just a few minutes before the debris began falling down on the 75 to 100 people inside the Korean Union United Methodist Church in Rahway.

Most of them tried to shield themselves by going under the benches before they were able to flee the church.

According to CBS News, close to 14 other members of the church suffered minor injuries, plus a woman who got struck as she tried to protect her grandson.

After the damage to the church building was reviewed, Rahway Mayor, Samson Steinman, told CBS: "It's a miracle that nobody was killed."
