Jonathan Gets Court Injunction To Stop Obasanjo Book Launch

Days after an attempt by five Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors failed to reconcile President Goodluck Jonathan and former president Olusegun Obasanjo, the president has used one of his proxies to try to scuttle the publication of his book, “My Watch”. Former President Olusegun Obasanjo

The book that is billed to launch this week in Nigeria has three volumes with the third volume dedicated to happenings in government after Obasanjo left government in 2007.

The third part is believed to have highly uncomplimentary details of the incompetence of President Jonathan in handling several national issues. The book also had details of an attempt made by Obasanjo to help Jonathan resolve some national issues that have now ballooned into a major catastrophe for the country.

However, Kashamu Buruji, a sworn enemy of Mr.. Obasanjo has managed to get a court injunction issued by an Abuja federal high court judge stopping Obasanjo from publishing of circulating the book.

According to court documents seen by SaharaReporters, Alex Izinyon (SAN) filed a lawsuit (FCT/HC /M/2392/2014) on behalf of Kasahmu last week seeking an injunction restraining Obasanjo from publishing or circulating his autobiography.

A federal high court judge, Valentine Ashi reportedly granted an order on December 5th to Kashamu barring Obasanjo from publishing or circulating the book until the substantive case is resolved before the court. The case is adjourned till December 10, 2014.

Mr. Kashamu is wanted in the US for drug-related offenses. Recently, he lost all appeals in the US District court in Chicago where he had sought to stop the US justice system from trying him. Mr. Kashamu’s political profile is one of the reasons the former president is at loggerheads with Mr. Jonathan.

Last week SaharaReporters broke the news that President Obasanjo will be releasing his book to the public this week.

Since then President Jonathan has panicked trying every means to stop the former president from launching his book.

Agents of Nigerian secret police, also known as SSS have been sent to grab copies of the book from its publishers but our sources said President Obasanjo is completely in control of copies of the book to be launched and presented to the public soon.
