Boko Haram implements Sharia in Mubi, Amputates Ten For Looting
Sources from Mubi said that the moment the sect gained entry to Mubi
they started implementing strict Sharia law and consequently amputated
the hands of those who allegedly looted property belonging to fleeing
residents.
“The insurgents were seen parading about 10 persons whose hands were
amputated in the presence of other residents they assembled to witness
the enforcement of Sharia law on those who either stole or refused to
abide by their Islamic teachings,” one of the sources stated.
Another eye-witness account revealed that two Imams accused of
preaching against their new teachings were dragged out from a mosque and
beheaded.
He said they advised all Christians in Mubi to relocate or be
prepared to be Islamized, warning that those who refuse would be killed
according to their Islamic tenets.
He further disclosed that the Emir’s palace in Mubi had been
converted to the residence of the ‘Amir’ and that they have hoisted
their flags signifying that they are in control of the palace.
He also said the palace had become their spiritual base for the sect.
The source also disclosed the sect has vowed to dislodge Yola, the Adamawa State capital, in their next advancement effort.
Findings indicate that the worst affected victims of their recent
onslaught were members and students of the Adamawa State University and
the Federal Polytechnic, Mubi.
They disclose they went through hell before some of them finally
escaped to Yola while others who fled through the common border between
Nigeria and Cameroun are still languishing in the bush.
Some students said they trekked for more than 12 hours before they could reach a small village at Belel.
They applauded the efforts, humanity, professionalism and compassion
displayed by Cameroun gendarmes who treated them well before escorting
them back through a safe route to Nigeria.
One of the female students who escaped to Yola on Sunday said: “I
must give thanks and praises to God Almighty for sparing my life; I saw
as people were slaughtered like goats and closed my eyes, only to open
again to see myself alive.”
