Davido Wins The Best African Artiste Award

On Saturday, May 3, 2014, Davido clinched the award for “Best African Artiste of the Year” at the 15^th edition of Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).

Davido beat PSquare, KCEE, Wizkid, Flavor and South African Mafikizolo to pick up the Best Artiste of the Year Award.

The “Best African Artiste of The Year” Award can only be won by ‘non-Ghanaian musicians whose music crossed borders and made the most impact in Ghana and on the continent at large during the year under review”. The organizers said during the award show.

On Saturday fans of the nominated artistes stormed the venue of event at the International Conference Center, where Davido, Iyanya, Sarkodie, Samini, Sonnie Badu and others performed.

Davido took to Instagram after he won the award to announce to his fans, he said, ‘Winner oh winner!! We worked our ass off!! GMA African Artiste Of The Year! Can’t lie I’m packing All this year Amen!! Oooossshhheee Fans!!! !!‘.

The award show was hosted by Kofi Okyere Darko (K.O.D) and Eazzy.

Davido scooped up the award for ‘Best African Artiste of the Year‘ at the 15th edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) which held on Saturday, May 3, 2013. The young Pop singer beat Nigerian counterparts Psquare, KCEE, Wizkid, Flavour and South African duo Mafikizolo to pick up the award. Last year, Wizkid won the same award. According to organizers, the award can only be won by ‘non-Ghanaian musicians whose music crossed borders and made the most impact in Ghana and on the continent at large during the year under review’. ‘Winner oh winner!!
